Cirque Hirsute

Cirque Hirsute

Cirque Hirsute was founded in 2005 by Mathilde Sebald and Damien Gaumet, both trained at ESAC (École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels). Cirque Hirsute’s a-typical style is characterized by a combination of traditional circus codes with more contemporary readings filled with poetry and humor. Technical virtuosity rubs shoulders with the unusual, the gentle, the acidic. Ingeniosity is at play in the diversion of familiar objects from their habitual use and in the development of new acrobatic apparatus.

Each show displays an original universe like so many dream fragments, be they baroque, hallucinatory or fantastical.
